My CG products
Before you start using the CGM, it is very important to identify your hair properties. Based on this, you can purchase and start using the right products.
For example, my hair is medium to very elastic, which means I need to find the right balance between moisture and protein. My products are as follows:
Final wash: Zwitsal baby shampoo
Co-wash: Novex My Curls Mystic Black Conditioner
Hair mask with protein: Curls Blueberry Bliss Reparative Hair Mask
Leave-in conditioner: Novex Mystic Black Leave-in Conditioner
Gel: Schwarzkopf Osis+ Bouncy Curls
Since it is important for my hair to have the right balance of moisture and protein, I chose to use only a hair mask with protein.
Final Wash day
Time to get started. The first step is the final wash. For this I used the baby shampoo from Zwitsal, which only has sulfates in it.
Normally I wash my hair 2 times with shampoo, but I decided not to do that anymore. After rinsing out the shampoo my hair felt very rough, something I was not used to.
The next step was the deep conditioning mask, which made my hair softer again. I applied the mask, then used the Tangle Teezer brush to comb out my hair.
I let the mask soak in for 40 minutes and then I rinsed it out, first with hot water and then with cold water. And then it was time for the second step: styling.
After the cold shower, I brushed my hair through one more time, making sure all the tangles were gone. Then I hung upside down, this works best for me.
The leave-in conditioner I applied with the raking method. This involves gliding my fingers through my hair.
To create a cast around my curls, I used the gel last. Through scrunching, I applied the gel along the length of my hair.
Last, I used the Cantu WAVE WHIP Curling Mousse which I had bought once before quite by chance. After applying all the styling products, I let my hair air dry.
The process took about 2 hours with an excellent result as a result. For the first time CG, I was satisfied.
The only downside was that my curls were very thin and oily at the bottom, but it’s probably time for a visit to the hairdresser.
The days after the final wash day, I take care of my hair by refresh. This means that I don’t wash the hair again, but only model it with the styling products.
The biggest difference I noticed after a few refresh days was that my hair had a little more curl definition. Also, my hair was less greasy in the ends.
I found out that it is very important for me to see if the styling product has Glycerin as an ingredient or not. This ingredient can actually draw moisture out of your hair in hot weather, for example.
What is my next step?
Now that I have a few days of experience with CGM, the journey can really begin. I’m looking forward to experimenting more with other products to see how my hair reacts to them.
So far, I am definitely very excited. What I find very special is that I am only now really getting to know my hair.
I’m finding out why my hair has always been very frizzy, for example, combined with a lot of dandruff. Fortunately, I can now solve these problems as naturally as possible.
Wondering what other products I will be trying out? I will write a new blog when I have tried new products. Stay tuned!
