To choose the right gel for your curls, it is important to know your hair characteristics. These include your curl type, hair characteristics, and the porosity and elasticity of your hair. According to the Curly Girl Method, you start with a co-wash, then use a deep conditioner, then apply a leave-in conditioner to wet hair, and finish with the gel. You can do this with the praying hands technique, for example, and then start scrunching. Then plop your hair, or let it air dry. Is your hair dry? Then your curls probably feel crunchy.
