Ecoslay Review: Hair Products That Will Slay Your Curls
Since the beginning of this year I have been trying to make a change: I’m using less plastic, eating less meat and trying organic products. So it would be a bit strange if I continue to use silicones in my hair. Fortunately, Kurlify came my way and helped me during my journey to take care of my hair as healthy and natural as possible. Recently I got a package with Ecoslay products to try. So in this blog I’ll share my Ecoslay review!

Ecoslay products
Ecoslay is an American brand that started in 2015. The products are homemade in Adria’s kitchen and are shipped from her home.
How special is that? “You are what you eat” is the brand’s motto. So all ingredients in the hair products are natural and consciously chosen, and ingredients that you can’t even pronounce are avoided.
All Ecoslay products are therefore good for you and the environment. “Slay your hair, not the planet”, they say.
All Ecoslay products are CG-proof, environmentally-friendly, plant-based/vegan, free from silicones, sulfates, parabens, and suitable for all curl types

Ecoslay review
The Ecoslay range includes gels, leave-in, conditioners, shakes, oil and hair wash.
You can also buy various sets, consisting of a few mini Ecoslay products.
Handy for traveling, but also if you want to try out the products but don’t want to buy the large ones immediately.
The package that Kurlify put together contained four Ecoslay minis. These are good for at least two to three times an entire hair routine.
Ecoslay Peppermint Schnapps Hair Wash
To try the products from scratch, I first washed my hair with the supplied hair wash, called Peppermint Schnapps.
With Marshmallow Root, African Black Soap and organic oils, this product combines the ability to moisturize, detangle and cleanse in one step.
Apply it to your scalp, and as you massage it in, foam is created. You only need a small amount, so the product goes a long way.
The peppermint opens your pores and my hair feels really clean after rinsing. The name already gives it away: the shampoo smells nice and fresh of peppermint with the spicy scent of rosemary and lavender!
For best results, use the Ecoslay Hot Sauce as a pre-poo or hot oil treatment before washing your hair with the Peppermint Schnapps.
Ecoslay Banana Cream Deep Conditioner
Right after I got out of the shower, I divided the Ecoslay Banana Cream Deep Conditioner through my hair.
This is a deeply moisturizing conditioner that contains natural ingredients such as avocado, okra, coconut cream, aloe vera and banana.
It’s suitable for all hair types and will nourish even the driest strands!
You can use it both as a conditioner and as a hair mask.
For extra thirsty locks, apply a bit of Banana Cream as a leave-in treat.
I used it as a deep conditioner and applied it to wet hair. I brushed it through and wrapped my hair so that it could retract for a while. And because I saw that the package also contained the Moonshine oil!

Ecoslay Moonshine
Ecoslay Moonshine is a mix of oils, based on jojoba oil. The product is suitable for skin and hair.
The blend of avocado, almond and castor oils moisturize and soften your hair and skin.
For example, you can distribute it along the lengths of your hair after washing, to lock in moisture and prevent frizz.
Or after a shower to lubricate your skin. It’s perfect for dry elbows and heels!
But that’s not all, you can also use Moonshine to scrunch out the crunch, which is formed after your hair is dried with gel in it.
Scrunching this out with a bit of Moonshine will create soft, bouncy curls.
The oil smells like green tea with lemon and feels soft on the skin. Later in the week I also used the oil on my hair. And the smell apparently lingered, because I got compliments about it while grocery shopping!
You can also smell cinnamon, lemongrass, orange and ginger in it.
Ecoslay Orange Marmelade
Finally – after I washed out the deep conditioner – I styled my hair with the Ecoslay Orange Marmalade. This is a firm-hold gel that contains, among other things, flaxseed extract.
It delivers frizz-free curls with incredible shine. It also ensures that your curls stay in place for days. And with a pump dispenser it’s easy to apply!
I divided this product section by section through my hair and brushed it through with my Denman Brush.
After this, the drying began. With a diffuser I went through my curls and tried to blow dry it almost dry.
The result was amazingly good, because normally I use much heavier products.
My hair felt light, didn’t frizz and I haven’t had to wash it for over seven days!
Storage tip: the Ecoslay Orange Marmalade is fully-preserved and can be kept for nine months – if the product is stored in a cool, dark and dry location.
Since it’s an all-natural product, it is recommended that Orange Marmalade is refrigerated to preserve its shelf life.

Ecoslay Jello Shot
Jello Shot can be used either before or after Orange Marmalade!
I personally like to apply Orange Marmalade first on damp hair and then spread a thin layer of Jello Shot on top for extra hold.
I used my hands and lightly raked, smoothed and scrunched Jell-O shot over the top. You can add your oils before or after applying Jello Shot.
I absolutely love Ecoslay’s Jello Shot. I Keep it refrigerated and also use it for twist outs. I really like the natural ingredients and everything about it. A little goes a long way
My opinion on Ecoslay
Ecoslay is definitely worth a try! Besides that the Peppermint Schnapps hair wash is something every curly girl should have at home, the Orange Marmalade is a good middle ground for not too defined hair but also not dry/frizzy.

My hair is changing because I’m using only natural products and I am happy with it. It’s growing, it’s fuller and lasts longer from wash day to wash day.
