Shop Curly Girl approved hair oil
According to the Curly Girl Method, you use a hair oil after washing your curls. An oil can act as a sealant to combat frizz or as a conditioner that penetrates deep into the roots. Curly hair is often frizzy and brittle, so an oil is a good product to use. It provides hydration and nourishment to your curls while styling. The hair oils mentioned above are Curly Girl-safe and therefore free of silicones, parabens, and sulfates.

Did you know there are so many different types of oils for curls, each with their own unique effects? Think of jojoba oil, avocado oil, argan oil, and castor oil, for example. With hair oil, we can distinguish two types : oils that can penetrate the scalp and hair (hydrating oil), and oils that remain on the hair (sealing oil). Which oil is best for your hair depends entirely on your hair and what you want to achieve with it. Do you want less dryness and frizz ? Then choose a hydrating oil. Want more shine? Then choose a sealing oil. Want a bit of both? You can with the types of oils that do both. They can all be found in the list of oils above. These CG-friendly oils do not contain silicones, sulfates, parabens, or drying alcohols.
Once you’ve found the best oil for your hair, apply it to wet hair after washing and before styling. You can use the LOC Method for this : this is a technique to hydrate your hair and ensure it retains moisture. You start with a leave-in conditioner , which hydrates your hair. Then you use oil to seal in moisture. Finally, a cream (or gel , or mousse ) adds beautiful curl definition. You can also reverse the oil and cream steps, which is called the LCO Method. Give it a try and discover what works best for your curls.
You can also use oil to squeeze gel cast out of your curls. This is the hard layer you get when your hair is dried with gel. An oil like jojoba can also work well for a dry and itchy scalp. After washing your hair, apply a few drops of oil to your scalp and massage it in.
